UANSPORT
Uniqueness-Abilities-Normalities Sport
The project aims to promote more and equal opportunities in sports for people with mental, physical and other disabilities and to encourage people (with or without disabilities) to be more active in physical activities. The specific objectives of the project are:
- the exchange of experiences and practices for the promotion of social inclusion through sport
- encourage cooperation between the sports sector and stakeholders active in the field of social inclusion of persons with disabilities
Raise awareness of the role of sport in social inclusion.
The project will help to promote and ensure the participation of all, especially young people with disabilities, in sports activities, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Article 30) and the European Disability Strategy 2010 - 2020 ”.
The partnership consists of 5 partners from 5 EU countries (Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia): two sports clubs, two sports federations and associations, a public body with experience and programs specifically for the social inclusion of people with disabilities through sports.
The project will focus on transnational activities for the exchange of practices and ideas: the inaugural meeting in Greece, three good practice visits to partner countries and the final meeting in Italy. Sports events will also be organized by the partners in connection with the European Sports Week 2020 (eg "Sportgames 2020: the International Sports Festival" in Berlin) and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3).
The project will work mainly with young people with mental and / or physical disabilities: more than 3,000 girls and boys will participate in the whole project.
Participants will benefit from the project and the project will create the conditions for enhanced cooperation in the EU between sports organizations and related bodies working with people with disabilities to promote social inclusion through sport and sport.
