The Course Of The organization Until Today<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The idea of \u200b\u200bthe creation of Aetoi Thessalonikis was born in a special education school in Thessaloniki. The need for students with learning disabilities or mild mental disabilities to socialize and have some sports activities was more than obvious. In 2006 we timidly took the first step and created the club. In 2007 we participated in the first pan-Hellenic championship for people with disabilities with five athletes in track and field sports. When we started, none of us had imagined where this club could go. Gradually we added other sports to our club, basketball, swimming, table tennis, boccia while our athletes train individually and in other sports such as Badminton, weightlifting on the bench, etc. While our club had started Aimed at people with mental disabilities, today our club has about 70 active athletes in all categories of disability sports. We have mass sports departments for the purpose of sports and the well-being of athletic members as well as high level athletes who are distinguished at a pan-European and global level.<\/p>

Sports activities are one of the two main pillars on which our club is based. The other pillar is the education and for this reason, from the very beginning of the founding of the club, many educational actions were implemented. A milestone in the history of the club is the participation of Aetoi Thessalonikis in European programs. In 2008 Aetoi Thessalonikis are implementing their first European program at local level and in 2010 the second. In 2013, a new door opens in the association with their participation in joint ventures of organizations from all over Europe in order to implement a project. However, the great development of the club started in 2017 where it participated in the 1st European sports project within the framework of Erasmus +. In parallel with the European programs, the association tries at every opportunity to implement actions which I intend, say, to educate their athletic members or to inform the world about disability sports.<\/p>

AetoiThessalonikis withstood even the harsh economic crisis that Greece went through from 2009 to 2019. The administrative structure of the organization and the way it operates guarantees its existence for many, many more years.
